The Lord of the Rings Online has released an article to help users discern between Pre-Order Keys and Game Keys:
Understanding Pre-order Keys and Game Keys
It’s come to our attention some players are having trouble sorting out their keys.
If you pre-ordered you will need to enter two keys. If you just picked up a retail copy and did not pre-order you’ll have one key.
Pre-order keys grant you the pre-order items and special pricing. You will not be able to enter Moria, level up, play the Rune-keeper or Warden classes, or enjoy the other features of Moria with this key.

LotRO Exclusives: - The Old Code -Kinship Moria Interview
|
|

LotRO Exclusives - Nov 16, 2008 1:29 PM PST | Posted by Finnbarr Galedeep

Finnbarr Galedeep here!
I had actually planned to Interview several Kinships on the Windfola sever prior to the the Release date of The Mines of Moria on the 18th, asking them how their Kinship was preparing for The Mines of Moria. I had planned to walk around Middle earth and ask random kinships how thier Kinship was preparing for the Mines of Moria. What they would be doing in preperation to enter The world beneath. Plans and what-not. While in my travels around Gath Forthnir I clicked on the first person I could. Alanah. One of the leaders of the kinship "The Old Code". After asking her if I could ask a few questions she invited me to join them through a voice chat program. Upon entering I was greeted by many "Hello!"s. After we got to talking I realized I couldnt tear myself apart from them. How can I just leave after asking only about Moria?!? I couln't! There was no way! And so what was just going to be a few questions to a few kinships turned into a fullscale interview of The Kinship: The Old Code.
I was invited to thier homestead and there, after asking my first initial question I would find out how I couldn't just walk away after just a few questions.
-------
Alanah: We were actually fortunate enough to have four people who were able to make it into beta testing for The Mines of Moria. We were able to search out some of the new areas, do some exploring and find out some of the new crafting things that were comming up. So we've been able to come up with some strategies to help the whole kin and be really successful.
Strategies? Well this does sound interesting! Tell me about some of your strategies....

Exclusive LOTRO Mines of Moria Preview Pt. 2
|
|
|
LotRO Exclusives - Nov 14, 2008 4:54 AM PST | Posted by SWATJester
|

Part 1 of our preview can be found here.
Our next stop on the tour was the Twenty-First Hall, a hub of trade and
social activity for players in Moria. Again, you can get a glimpse of
just how large the caverns of Moria really are, and the fact that there
are no loading zones in-between areas is truly remarkable. The
Twenty-First Hall is home to one of the forges in Moria, and here we
were introduced to the Legendary Weapon system, another customization
technique in Moria. Essentially, some weapons in LOTRO can be
identified as "Unique" and can be developed into Legendary Weapons. As
you kill mobs, in addition to gaining experience for yourself, you're
also gaining experience for your weapons. When a weapon gains enough
XP, it can be reforged at the forge-master, and gain "legacies".
Legacies are basically special bonuses provided by the item and can be
anything from increasing the power or duration of a class ability, to
adding DPS to an item. Every time a Legendary Weapon is reforged, it
can gain new legacies. Furthermore, the player is given a certain
amount of points that he can spend to improve legacies. Some legacies
are ranked higher (i.e. better) than others, meaning they'll cost less
to develop or provide more of a bonus at each point investment, or have
longer duration effects. These points are given back at each reforging
to allow the player to choose how to respend them with the new
legacies. With up to six Legendary Weapons, the player is able to have
a set of top-tier weapons with a wide area of customized uses, without
having to depend on raids or camping mobs for a rare drop (though,
other rare items than weapons will still drop this way). A player could
choose to develop one weapon by putting all his points into increasing
its DPS, while developing another weapon to have better tanking stats,
and a third to have better offensive skill abilities. These weapons can
be further customized by drop-in relics that provide even more
enhancements. The result is yet another layer of customization
providing for a truly deep and varied experience.

Exclusive LOTRO Mines of Moria Preview Pt. 1

I must confess, I've never been a big Lord of the Rings fan. The first
movie was pretty good, parts of the second and third ones as well, but
nothing spectacular. (I can hear the wailing and gnashing of teeth from
the fanboys now. WHAT! HE MENTIONED THE MOVIES BEFORE THE BOOKS?
BLASPHEMY!) Yes, I've read the books too, every tortuous long minute of
them. Don't get me wrong, I loves me some fantasy books, and I actually
find some aspects of the Tolkien universe pretty intriguing. But I'm a
law student; I already spend my days reading through hundreds of pages
of dense material, it's not how I'd prefer to spend my off time.

LotRO Exclusives: - Ariestarchus of Windfola Interview

Finnbarr Galedeep here!
Last week I had an opportunity to interview a player who I find to be a very respectable player.
I have followed him into many raids and have always found that you'll always gain something when your with him whether it be In-game or out of the game. In-game he's a great leader and follower. Out of the game he's an awesome friend who will always have your back. After hitting him up on my friends list I asked him if it would be okay if I could interview him. He said yes but only under the condition that I gave him all the money I would ever make...
